Dreambert and Bedsmith, two creatures of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He claims that they must have passed out while watching TV last night, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, of the Star Sprite species, arrives and insists on being their friend. She claims that they had plans to meet up, but Dreambert and Bedsmith don’t remember her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow, unsure of their surroundings. They wander around the town, pretending to be unfamiliar with the surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they were long-time friends. As she shows them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith remain disoriented and unable to understand their past or their connection to Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially thinking that they are simply pretending to forget. But when their strange behavior persists, she begins to worry that there is something seriously wrong with her memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s insecurity deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind her forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and are provided with a bed that they are not comfortable in by Wonky, who still claims to be their father. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle down for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identity, their past, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they fall into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
